A former Raiders player recently pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge, almost a year after being accused of speeding to meet the team’s curfew. Roderic Teamer, a safety on the Raiders team, was pulled over by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper in November 2023 for allegedly driving at about 91 mph. The trooper reported being overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana during the traffic stop.

Following his arrest, Teamer was released by the Raiders. However, his defense attorney, Ross Goodman, mentioned that Teamer only had low levels of marijuana in his system, which made it challenging for prosecutors to prove that he was impaired while driving. Goodman also stated that Teamer was on his way to the M Resort Casino and Hotel where the Raiders were staying before a game, and he cooperated with the police during the incident.

Teamer decided to enter a no contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. He has since completed DUI school and a victim impact panel, leading to the dismissal of the case. Court records confirmed the resolution of the legal proceedings on Wednesday.

Despite the legal issues, Teamer has moved on to sign with the New Orleans Saints in June, indicating a fresh start in his professional football career. This transition offers him a new opportunity to showcase his skills and contribute to his new team.

The incident involving Teamer serves as a reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of following traffic laws. It also highlights the impact of such actions on a professional athlete’s career and public image. Moving forward, Teamer’s focus will likely be on making positive choices both on and off the field to avoid similar situations in the future.
