A Texas man, James Hart, was arrested on suspicion of tampering with the body of his girlfriend, Giselle Salazar, who was found dead at a local dock in May. Salazar, a 30-year-old mother of four, was discovered hanging by a rope at the League City dock on May 31. While Hart has been charged in connection to Salazar’s death, he has not been charged with killing her, according to court records.
The League City Police Department expressed that Salazar’s death was considered suspicious due to the peculiar positioning of her body – with one arm raised without any support. Detectives believe that Salazar may have died at a different location before her body was found at the dock, causing her arm to stiffen in an upright position.
The cause of Salazar’s death remains unknown as the investigation is still ongoing, and the medical examiner’s office has not released its full report. Upon discovering Salazar’s body, police interviewed a man who was suspected to be her boyfriend. The man, later identified as James Hart, showed signs of distress during questioning and initially refused to leave his boat.
Reports suggest that Salazar had been living with Hart on his boat at the Wharf Marina since March. Hart denied any involvement in Salazar’s death, claiming that he would never harm her. He mentioned that he last saw Salazar leaving the boat to use the bathroom hours before her body was found. Hart does not have an attorney listed under his criminal court records and is currently held on an $80,000 bond.
Nathan Paz, Salazar’s brother, described her as “the most charismatic person you could ever meet” in a GoFundMe page set up in her honor. Paz mentioned that he and his mother are taking care of three of Salazar’s children following her tragic death.
The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Giselle Salazar’s untimely passing. The community mourns the loss of a beloved mother and friend, while seeking justice for her and her family during this difficult time.
