The Department of Justice is not playing around with these two. They’re saying that this network, known as 764, was all about corrupting society by exploiting minors. The whole operation went down from late 2020 to early this year. Varagiannis and Nepal were, like, the ringleaders of a subgroup within 764 that used encrypted messaging apps to do their dirty work. They were allegedly behind the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, recruiting others to join in on their sickening activities. FBI Director Kash Patel is not holding back, calling their actions disgusting.
Nepal was nabbed in North Carolina last week, while Varagiannis was chilling in Greece when he got arrested on Monday. But get this, Varagiannis is denying all the allegations and is fighting extradition. His lawyer and Greek judicial authorities are standing by him, claiming that Greek law has jurisdiction over the case because he was in Greece when everything went down. So, it looks like this case is about to get pretty messy.
The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Edward R. Martin Jr., is not mincing words when he calls these allegations every parent’s worst nightmare.
