A local hero plumber named Daniel Klinsic shared his brave act of chasing two alleged gunmen through the streets of Austral in south-west Sydney after being woken by gunshots in the middle of the night. The incident occurred on Thursday night when gunshots were reported on Sixteenth Ave in Austral, leading to police involvement and further reports of a crashed vehicle on Craik Avenue. Two men were seen fleeing the scene, and bullet casings and a fuel cannister were discovered inside the abandoned stolen vehicle.
Daniel Klinsic, a father-of-three, recounted how he was at home with his wife when they heard a loud bang, prompting him to immediately give chase to the alleged offenders. Despite being barefoot and wearing only his pyjamas, Klinsic ran after the gunman but had to stop due to the discomfort caused by the gravel road. He mentioned that his instinct to protect his family overrode any fear and that he was motivated to apprehend the suspect.
While in pursuit, Klinsic noticed that the alleged offender was on the phone, presumably trying to contact someone for assistance. He later realized the seriousness of the situation when he saw the bullets in the suspect’s car, acknowledging that the situation could have escalated quickly. Neighbors confirmed that Klinsic’s actions were not surprising given the previous disturbances in the area.
Police managed to recover an empty pistol magazine and apprehend a 30-year-old man for questioning in connection to the incident. Additionally, a silver gun believed to have been used in the shooting was found the next morning. Investigations are still ongoing to gather more information about the events that unfolded that night in Austral.
Klinsic’s bravery and quick thinking in the face of danger highlight the importance of community members stepping up to ensure the safety of their neighborhoods. His actions serve as a reminder that ordinary people can make a significant difference in preventing crime and protecting those around them. The incident also sheds light on the prevalence of gun violence and the need for increased vigilance and cooperation between residents and law enforcement to address such issues effectively.
