A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the tragic death of Anita Rose, a 57-year-old woman who passed away four days after a suspected attack while walking her dog in Suffolk. Anita was found unconscious on a track near Rectory Lane, Brantham, after leaving her home early in the morning to take her springer spaniel Bruce for a walk.
Suffolk Police reported that Anita, who was receiving treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, succumbed to her injuries. A 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while Anita was in intensive care, and has since been rearrested on suspicion of murder.
Anita’s family, devastated by the loss, shared a heartfelt statement through the police, highlighting her role as a beloved member of the community, a mother of six, a grandmother of 13, a partner, a mother-in-law, and a dear friend to many. They appealed to the public for any information that could aid the investigation, emphasizing the importance of cherishing time with loved ones.
In connection with the incident, a 37-year-old woman from the Ipswich area was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and both individuals have been released on police bail with conditions to return in October 2024.
Detective Superintendent Mike Brown expressed the gravity of the situation, noting that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the offense and the cause of Anita’s death is ongoing. He assured continued police presence in the area to conduct enquiries, provide support to the family, and gather any relevant information from witnesses or residents with CCTV footage.
