A Florida man, David Phillip Turner, 33, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to the shooting deaths of his ex-wife, Crimea Malita Baker, 33, and her boyfriend, Sean Lange, 34, at their Maryland home. The incident took place on August 25, where the couple was found dead in their bed by deputies. Turner, who is the father of three of Baker’s four children, is believed to have fired more than 42 rounds at the couple in a crime of rage and anger.
Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins stated that Turner snuck into the house through a back door and shot the couple at around 1:25 a.m. The children, aged 13 and younger, hid in the house for hours before feeling safe enough to come out. Fortunately, they were unharmed in the shooting and are currently staying with relatives.
Baker had previously shared online about being a domestic violence survivor and had sought legal help for her divorce and custody proceedings. She had also posted happy photos with her children before her tragic death. A fundraiser has been set up to support Lange’s children, including three daughters who were not with him at the time of the incident. Lange was described as a hardworking and generous man who loved deeply.
Turner, a Miami resident, was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on a beach with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies. He is facing charges of home invasion and gun charges in connection to the killings and is awaiting extradition back to Maryland. It is still unclear whether Turner has legal representation.
The tragic incident has left the children devastated, and their lives will never be the same. Jenkins emphasized the importance of supporting the children during this difficult time. The community has come together to provide assistance and comfort to the affected families. The children’s safety and well-being are the top priority as they try to cope with the loss of their mother and her boyfriend.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that justice is served for Baker and Lange. The community has shown an outpouring of support for the children and their families, highlighting the importance of coming together in times of tragedy. The impact of domestic violence and its far-reaching consequences have been brought to the forefront as the community mourns the loss of two individuals taken too soon.
