A Texas man named James Hart, 51, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly tampering with the body of his girlfriend, Giselle Salazar. Salazar, a 30-year-old mother of four, was tragically found dead at a local dock in League City on May 31. While Hart has been charged in connection to Salazar’s death, he has not been charged with killing her, according to court records.
The League City Police Department expressed suspicion about Salazar’s death due to the unusual positioning of her body. Her arm was found raised without any support, leading detectives to believe that she may have died at a different location before being moved to the dock where she was discovered. The exact cause of Salazar’s death remains unknown as the investigation is still ongoing and the full report from the medical examiner’s office has not been released.
Following the discovery of Salazar’s body, police spoke to a man who was believed to be her boyfriend. The man, later identified as James Hart, initially refused to come out of his boat and appeared distressed when questioned by authorities. Hart claimed that he had no involvement in Salazar’s death and stated that he was unaware of what had happened until the police informed him. He recounted that the last time he saw Salazar was when she left the boat to use the restroom hours before her body was found.
Reports indicate that Salazar had been living with Hart on his boat at the Wharf Marina since March. While Hart maintains his innocence, he is currently being held on an $80,000 bond without an attorney listed in his criminal court records. Meanwhile, Salazar’s brother, Nathan Paz, described her as a charismatic individual and set up a GoFundMe page to honor her memory. Paz is now taking care of three of Salazar’s children with the help of his mother.
As the investigation into Giselle Salazar’s death continues, her family and loved ones seek closure and justice for her untimely passing. The community mourns the loss of a beloved mother and friend, hoping that the truth behind her tragic death will soon come to light.
