Police in Summerlin are currently looking into a violent incident that occurred at a local casino in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department, two individuals were stabbed and one person was shot around 1:22 a.m. at the Red Rock Resort on Charleston Blvd. All three individuals involved were rushed to University Medical Center, with two of them currently in critical condition.

Eyewitness accounts, such as that of 48-year-old Andrew Rothbart, shed light on the chaos and fear that ensued during the incident. Rothbart, who was present at the resort on Friday night and into Saturday morning, mentioned that many people, including employees, were deeply affected by what had occurred. He described how everyone quickly sought cover by getting underneath tables as the situation unfolded.

Rothbart recalled leaving the Rouge Room around 1 a.m. when he noticed security personnel rushing in. Shortly after, he heard a loud noise and followed the commotion to the Lucky Penny Diner where he saw an individual on the ground surrounded by law enforcement and security guards. Despite the tense atmosphere, Rothbart expressed that the heavy security presence helped reassure him and others in the vicinity.

Details emerged suggesting that the individual in question had stabbed two security guards, leading to another guard firing a shot in response. Rothbart admitted that the shock of the event left many bystanders speechless and unsure of how to react. Despite the immediate area being cordoned off for investigation purposes, he noted that the rest of the resort seemed to resume normal operations relatively quickly.

As authorities continue to piece together the sequence of events, they have assured the community that there is no imminent danger to the public. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the motives behind the violence and provide clarity on what transpired that fateful night. Residents and visitors are encouraged to remain vigilant but not alarmed as law enforcement works to ensure the safety and security of the area.
