Authorities in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, are currently on the lookout for Jerod Taylor, a 39-year-old man accused of manufacturing 80 ghost guns and possessing a large collection of weapons. The incident unfolded when Taylor reportedly fled the scene of a domestic assault, prompting law enforcement to investigate his residence on Goddard Road in Lexington Park.

Despite being prohibited from owning firearms due to previous convictions, Taylor had an array of weapons in his home and vehicles. Police discovered 3D-printed ghost guns, semi-automatic rifles, handguns, shotguns, an AK-47, suppressors, and a significant amount of ammunition during their search. Additionally, they found auto sears used to convert firearms into fully automatic weapons, as well as a 3D-printed, fully automatic rifle.

Taylor faces charges related to illegal possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of an assault weapon with intent to sell, second-degree assault, and other offenses. Furthermore, he has an outstanding theft warrant against him. Law enforcement describes him as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, cautioning the public that he is armed and dangerous.

The concept of ghost guns involves firearms assembled from unfinished parts lacking serial numbers, which complicates their traceability. Maryland State Police define ghost guns as a growing concern, prompting legislation in the state to prohibit their sale and mandate serial numbers on all personally constructed firearms. Baltimore City recently settled with a ghost gun manufacturer for $1.2 million, emphasizing the enforcement of firearms laws.

In a related development, the Baltimore Police Department seized 462 ghost guns in 2023, underscoring the prevalence of these untraceable firearms. As authorities intensify efforts to combat illegal gun manufacturing and possession, the public is urged to report any sightings of Jerod Taylor to law enforcement promptly by dialing 911.
