Former President Donald Trump has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for the shocking number of migrants living illegally in the US who have been convicted or accused of homicide. During a town hall event in Warren, Michigan, Trump expressed his dismay over the federal data showing that more than 15,000 illegal immigrants have been charged with or convicted of homicide, calling it the “worst numbers I think I’ve ever heard.”
Blaming Harris for the situation, Trump referred to her as “Comrade Kamala Harris,” labeling her as incompetent and unfit for her role as the border czar. The former president did not hold back in his criticism of the vice president, accusing her of allowing these individuals to enter and remain in the country.
The data, provided to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, revealed that there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories in ICE’s national docket as of July 21. Among them, 13,099 were convicted of homicide, while 1,845 had pending homicide cases. ICE is currently detaining 277 migrants convicted of homicide and 51 facing such charges, indicating that deportation is likely for these individuals.
Trump emphasized the seriousness of the issue, pointing out that these individuals were released into the country and posing a threat to public safety. He condemned the lack of proper oversight and enforcement, labeling it as “gross incompetence” on the part of the government.
In addition to his criticism of Harris, Trump also discussed his plans for the auto industry and tariffs during the town hall in Michigan. He proposed implementing sweeping new tariffs, particularly on Chinese automobiles manufactured in Mexico but intended for the US market. Trump argued that by imposing heavy tariffs on these cars, American auto manufacturing would experience a resurgence unseen in decades.
