A woman has accused Conor McGregor, a well-known cage fighter, of raping her in Dublin, Ireland. The paramedic who treated her after the alleged attack testified in court that she was very bruised. The woman, Nikita Hand, claims McGregor assaulted and raped her in a hotel room in December 2018. McGregor, a former world champion in mixed martial arts, has denied all allegations against him.

Paramedic Eithne Scully described the intensity of bruising on Hand and mentioned various bruises on her body, including her chin, neck, chest, legs, buttocks, and thighs. The court was shown a video of Hand being treated by Scully, displaying some of her injuries.

The civil case against McGregor began in the Irish High Court, where Hand testified that McGregor forced her onto a bed in a hotel penthouse during a Christmas party in 2018. She claimed that McGregor choked her multiple times, leading her to believe she was going to die. Hand said she allowed McGregor to do whatever he wanted to survive, which resulted in the alleged rape.

McGregor’s defense team accused Hand of fabricating lies and attempting extortion through the civil case. They highlighted inconsistencies in her statements, including an alleged threat by McGregor to kill her, which she did not mention in her initial police interviews. McGregor has faced previous sexual assault allegations in the U.S., but no criminal charges were pursued in Miami in 2023.

These allegations have raised concerns about criminal sexual conduct, rape, and sexual assault, shedding light on the legal proceedings in Ireland. The case has garnered significant attention due to McGregor’s celebrity status and previous legal issues. The outcome of the trial will have implications beyond the individuals involved, impacting public perception of sexual assault cases and the accountability of high-profile figures in the sports industry.
