A man accused of shooting a security guard at a Las Vegas supermarket is facing a $500,000 bail set by a judge. The incident occurred on July 20 at Marketon on N. Decatur Blvd when Miguel Narro, 36, allegedly shot Alexander Maceo-Sanabria after trying to stop Luis Lopez, 40, from stealing groceries.
Narro is facing charges of attempted murder, robbery, and battery with a deadly weapon. Maceo-Sanabria, the security guard, is currently in critical condition. The Deputy District Attorney asked for $1 million bail with house arrest and a weapons prohibition for Narro. The judge, Amy Chelini, set the bail at $500,000 along with high-level house arrest and a weapons ban.
Although a second suspect, Lopez, was initially charged with attempted murder, the charges were dropped by the district attorney’s office. The Public Defender mentioned the presence of another suspect in the case and emphasized the need to review evidence to determine their involvement.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Narro has a history of violent criminal behavior, including a previous conviction for battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm. Despite having five children and working as a bodyguard, Narro’s bail was set at $500,000, which the defense argued was too high.
Judge Chelini defended the bail amount, stating that there is no constitutional right to a bail amount based on affordability. She also highlighted Narro’s disregard for the law, especially considering his felony status that prohibits him from possessing weapons.
The case is ongoing, and further updates on Narro’s trial and the involvement of additional suspects will be provided as more information becomes available. For inquiries, contact Noble Brigham at nbrigham@reviewjournal.com. Follow @BrighamNoble on X for the latest updates.
