Chicago Customs Seize Over 1,500 Glock Gun Switches in 2021
In a shocking revelation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Chicago seized more than 1,500 weapon-modifying devices designed to turn weapons fully automatic in 2021. From January to December, a total of 473 shipments containing 1,507 weapon-modifying devices were intercepted by CBP officers, marking a significant effort to prevent illegal firearms from entering the country.

Among the confiscated items, 354 Glock switches were identified within 155 shipments between January and June. The number spiked dramatically in the following months, with 241 shipments containing a staggering 948 switches seized in July, August, and September. LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, the director of field operations for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Chicago Field Office, commended the officers for their diligence in identifying and intercepting these dangerous devices. By closely scrutinizing import manifests and tracking shipping trends, CBP officers successfully prevented these Glock switches from falling into the wrong hands.
