Authorities in Mount Olivet, Kentucky, arrested a woman after a dismembered body was found in her mother’s backyard, with human remains discovered in a pot inside the home’s oven that was still warm. The Kentucky State Police received a call from a man who was working on the property, reporting the gruesome discovery in the backyard. Upon arrival, officers observed the dismembered corpse in the grass, a bloody mattress, and blood stains in various areas around the property.
After obtaining a search warrant for the home, law enforcement called in a special response team. The woman inside the house, identified as 32-year-old Torilena May Fields, initially refused to come out. Police used gas and a robot to communicate with Fields, eventually leading to her exiting the house without further incident later that night. She was found with blood on her face, hands, and clothing, according to the arrest citation.
Fields is facing charges of abusing a corpse, evidence tampering, and obstructing government operations, with the possibility of additional charges pending. As of Friday, it was unclear if she had legal representation. Scheduled for arraignment next week, court records do not list a lawyer for her defense.
