A tragic incident occurred in north Philadelphia on Tuesday when a 43-year-old man, Raheem Jefferson, was fatally shot on his way to a prayer service at the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society mosque. The police have described this shooting as an “execution-style homicide.”
According to reports, surveillance footage captured Jefferson walking towards the mosque with another man around 5 p.m. The shooter approached them from behind and opened fire from a close distance. A total of 17 shots were fired at Jefferson, causing him to fall to the ground. The shooter then fled the scene in a dark sedan. Jefferson was found with gunshot wounds to his head and torso and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
