International model Jed Texas, whose real name is Jed Texas Higgins, has been accused of deceiving his Australian girlfriend, Nadine Caller, and duping her out of $150,000 while he was in an Indonesian prison. Texas spent three and a half years in the notorious Kerobokan Prison and was released on March 26. However, he continued to pretend he was still in jail and asked Nadine for money to bribe corrupt officials for an early release, even though he had already been deported to the UK.
Nadine Caller, who met Texas on Tinder in 2018, revealed that she had long suspected her boyfriend was lying to her while behind bars. She provided evidence of transferring large sums of money, including Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, to accounts she was told belonged to prison staff. Nadine estimated that she had sent up to $150,000 in total to secure Texas’s release.
Moreover, Nadine shared that she had lavished gifts on Texas while he was in prison, including phones and payments to guards for unauthorized conjugal visits. She expressed feeling scammed and compared her experience to the Netflix show “The Tinder Swindler,” where a con artist poses as a wealthy individual to deceive women online.
Furthermore, another woman contacted Nadine to warn her that Texas had been released from jail and was attempting to deceive her as well. This revelation led Nadine to suspect that Texas might have access to the accounts where the money was transferred. She also shared instances of corruption within the Bali jail system, where she paid officials for favors and visits with Texas.
Despite feeling fooled and heartbroken, Nadine emphasized the importance of standing up against such deception and not allowing herself to be victimized. She mentioned that Texas had blocked her on social media and refused to respond to her inquiries, further confirming her suspicions.
Texas, who had a successful modeling career before his arrest, was found in possession of drugs during a police raid in April 2020. He admitted to buying marijuana for personal use and cited anxiety and mental health issues as reasons for his drug dependency. Texas expressed remorse in court, acknowledging his guilt and the consequences of his actions.
